We are a 3 minute walk from 125th St. with multiple places for shopping, food and entertainment. We are conveniently located within minutes of the A, C, B, D, 2, 3 train lines and multiple bus options as well.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

  • Does your little one love to twirl and leap? Then this is the class for them! Students learn the foundations of Ballet technique through a fun and engaging curriculum designed just for them, utilizing creative movement and imaginative play to teach important ballet skills and terminology. Ballet shoes are required for this class

  • Does your little one love to sing, dance, and tap their toes? If so, this is the class for them!  This class uses imaginative play alongside fun Broadway tunes to introduce tap dance technique through a curriculum created just for our youngest performers. Tap shoes are required for this class.

  • Does your little one love to bust a move anywhere they go? Then this is the class for them! Students learn the basics of hip hop, improvisation and musicality through creative movement and imaginative play in a curriculum designed just for our youngest performers. Sneakers are required for this class.

  •  Does your little one love twirling and tapping too much to pick just one? Then this is class for them! This class teaches the basics of both ballet and tap technique (30 minutes of Ballet time followed by 30 minutes of Tap time), using creative movement and imagination games to engage our youngest dancers in a curriculum designed just for them. Ballet shoes and Tap shoes are required for this class.

  • Acting and Singing class ignites the Broadway performer inside of each student! This class integrates vocal coaching, acting games and foundational theater concepts together to create an engaging and educational experience for aspiring Musical Theater stars.

  • Musical Theater 2 introduces students to the basics of Musical Theater dance technique. Dancers learn essential elements of Broadway Jazz, while growing skills in character development and stage presence. Jazz shoes are required for this class.

  • Musical Theater 3 expands on the foundations learned in Musical Theater 2, incorporating more advanced jazz technique, working on strength and flexibility and continuing to grow skills in character development and stage presence. Jazz shoes are required for this class.

  • Tap 1 introduces students to the history of tap and important terminology, as well as rhythms and basic technique. Dancers gain a foundational knowledge of Tap and learn key skills that can be built upon for advanced levels of this style. Tap shoes are required for this class.

  • Tap 2 expands on the foundations learned in Tap 1, continuing dancers’ education of tap history, terminology and rhythm, while challenging students with more advanced technique across the variety of styles with this dance genre. Tap shoes are required for this class.

  • Ballet 1 introduces the basics of Classical Ballet technique and terminology. Dancers are introduced to the standard structure of a ballet class: barre, center work, and across the floor. Ballet shoes are required for this class.

  • Ballet 2 expands on the foundations learned in Ballet 1, while integrating more challenging technique and teaching aspects of ballet history. Dancers use the standard structure of a ballet class: barre, center work, and across the floor with more advanced concepts, terminology and exercises. Ballet shoes are required for this class.

  • Ballet 3 expands on the foundations learned in Ballet 1 and 2, integrating these concepts with the most advanced combinations and exercises. Dancers use the standard structure of a ballet class: barre, center work, and across the floor and are introduced to pre-pointe exercises. Ballet shoes are required for this class.

  • Hip Hop 1 introduces rhythm and coordination through choreography and style explorations (popping, locking, waving, gliding, etc.). Through freestyle games and activities, dancers are encouraged to unlock new qualities of movement while discovering their own personal style. Sneakers are required for this class.

  • Hip Hop 2 expands on the foundations learned in Hip Hop 1 by cultivating self expression and confidence while learning performance quality and technique. Dancers build strength and endurance through intricate choreography and advanced musicality. Sneakers are required for this class.

  • Hip Hop 3 expands on the foundations learned in Hip Hop 1 and 2 by continuing to foster artistry while growing dancers technical abilities and exposure to different styles within the genre of hip hop. Dancers are challenged with professional level choreography and the most advanced musicality. Sneakers are required for this class.

  • Contemporary 2 introduces the basics of Contemporary dance as a fusion of ballet, jazz and modern dance techniques with an emphasis on self expression and storytelling. Contemporary helps dancers feel more in tune with their bodies and move more mindfully. Students can wear jazz shoes or dance barefoot.

  • Contemporary 3 expands on the foundations learned in Contemporary 2, developing the dancer’s  technique, body alignment, flexibility and strength, while also focusing on the dancer's emotion and creativity. This class encourages students to explore self expression and storytelling on deeper levels and emphasizes individual artistry. Students can wear jazz shoes or dance barefoot.

  • Jr. Company is a program designed for dancers ages 8-10 who are committed to becoming the best version of themselves inside and outside the studio. Jr. Company students are required to take another technique class in addition to Company class. Alongside dance training and special performance opportunities, students have “Real Talk” discussions about what is happening in their own lives, in the world around them, and how they can positively impact their community. Jazz shoes are required for this class.

  • Sr. Company is a program designed for dancers ages 11 and up who are committed to becoming the best version of themselves inside and outside the studio. Sr. Company students are required to take two other technique classes in addition to Company class. Alongside dance training and special performance opportunities, students have “Real Talk” discussions about what is happening in their own lives, in the world around them, and how they can positively impact their community. Jazz shoes are required for this class.

  • The High School Creative Arts Internship is a program designed for students ages 14 and up who desire to grow in their individual artistry and develop strong leadership skills while building community with other interns and Greenhouse staff. Interns develop responsibility through taking ownership of projects in day to day operations as well as during special events, and are given the opportunity to be mentored individually by a Greenhouse staff member. Interns are welcome to join any age appropriate class of their choice as part of their internship.

  • Stretch & Wellness is an opportunity for adults to strengthen and stretch their minds and bodies through basic exercises and breath work. No dance experience required, perfect for parents/guardians who are already bringing students to Saturday classes!

  • Dance Fitness is a high-energy and upbeat way to burn some calories and learn basic dance steps across a variety of dance genres. No previous dance experience required, but a good time is guaranteed!  Sneakers are required for this class.

  • Creative Writing is a class that focuses on basic skills in Poetry, Fiction and Nonfiction. Aspiring writers will be encouraged and challenged to express themselves through a variety of literary skills and techniques, while given foundational tools to understand the world of Creative Writing and the opportunities within it.
