Our Mission
Greenhouse Arts Center is a welcoming place of hope where creativity thrives, using dance and other art forms as a vehicle for the community to grow together, make a difference locally, embrace all cultures, and raise future leaders.
At Greenhouse Arts Center, we are committed to making the world a better place through the arts. Since opening our doors in Harlem NYC in 2015, we have consistently worked to serve our community by providing accessible dance classes, mentorship programs, community service projects and more, for anyone at any age.
We believe creating an impact starts in your own community, and we are thrilled to continue our mission in NJ. We’ve seen children grow in confidence, teenagers step into leadership, adults rediscover creativity, and families find community, all through the arts. We have big dreams ahead of us and there’s a place for everyone in our family.
What makes us different from other dance schools?
We created a Complete Creative Curriculum that is designed to cultivate Care, Esteem, Skill, Imagination, Collaboration and Initiative at every stage of development in a young person's life. We’ve learned that a dance class won’t necessarily change a person’s life unless the teacher is determined to teach lessons that positively impact a student’s whole life, in and out of the classroom. We train every staff member on the Complete Creative, so our students grow their dance technique alongside social emotional health, leadership and artistry. We can guarantee that every Greenhouse student will experience a holistic, inspiring and high quality professional dance education experience, equipping them to step into a calling in the next generation of creative leaders.
“We are greenhouse.”

“SEEDS: Cultivating the heart of an artist”
In this short film, also crafted by Matchlight, we follow the story of Emily Nunez, a student of ours since we first opened in 2015. The film follows her journey at Greenhouse and the impact it has made on her life, while highlighting the voices of her peers and sharing a glimpse of their stories.
